Tigers LB Jackson Dillon out for the season

The hits keep coming for the Memphis Tiger defense.

Senior LB Jackson Dillon has been ruled out for the season with a shoulder injury according to a statement released by the Memphis Athletic Department. Dillon left the 1st half of last week's 37-29 win vs. U-LM but never returned. Jackson was also a no-go at practice on Tuesday.

Here's the apparent play where Jackson was hurt (via @MemphisTigersJeb):

This news comes as a heartbreaker for Dillon as he was looking for a season of redemption at the KAT position  after missing most of the 2016 season due to a knee injury. The University of Memphis will seek a sixth year of eligibility for Dillon via medical wavier. "We are disappointed for him but are planning to on filing a medical hardship on his behalf for a sixth season,"  said Coach Norvell in a statement.

Earlier this week, head coach Mike Norvell announced that LB Darian Porter will miss the remainder of the season.  The depth of the Memphis linebackers will now be tested as players who were projected to play significant snaps go down due to season-ending injury. Freshman & former MUS standout Tim Hart and sophomore Bryce Huff will have increased roles as the season progresses.

Dillon is the fourth Tiger to be ruled out for season with injury.  Three of the four Tigers were hurt in Week 1.
